“We were travelling in our campervan and heard that this place lets you stay on the land if you are to come in and have a drink. I believe you can also just pay to stay. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Priscilla was working while we were there and was very happy to talk to us about the surrounding areas and gave us lots of good tips about where to go. They had pizzas on while we were there and the value for money was incredible. Admittedly it wasn't the best pizza we've ever had but it was absolutely stacked with toppings so still receives 5 stars. The prices here are also great. $10 a jug is unheard of these days. They also have a bottle shop which was cheap too so we stocked up. If you are camping overnight there are toilets available. The actual setting of the pub was also really beautiful, nestled in between the huge sugar cane fields. They also have free darts and free pool, this pub has everything! Would definitely come back, thanks for having us.”
“Camped out the back area green grass flat and sheltered. Camper trailer heaps of room. In the pub for a couple of beers by a friendly barmaid. Worth the short drive from the highway for the quiet. Yeah it's free but please spend a buck for a meal or a drink. Toilet for overnight use unisex and very obliging.”
“I arrived in the afternoon with no reservation and was allowed to camp for free on the grounds behind the pub. If you are doing this you should 100% go in for a beer or 10, meet and mingle with the awesome and welcoming locals, play darts and enjoy a good night at the bar. If you are lucky to have Rosemary serving you then she will always make you feel welcome and topped up with whatever you are drinking. She’s a wonderful woman. All round it was a wonderful stay and I’d recommend it to anyone”
“We stopped here for a beer in the arvo at this iconic pub. Locals and staff super friendly. Ended up there for dinner. The food was so awesome. Well done.”
“What a gem of a place! Wonderful country pub. Lovely staff, lovely locals, and other lovely travellers in a beautiful region. Best meal I've had for ages. $30 T-bone steak $10 jugs of beer. Amazing meals available from Thursday to Sunday. Free camping out the back. Pet friendly. Totally recommend this place. Thanks for having us Ngari and co. See you again xx”
“Great pub amongst the cane farms, good service and atmosphere. No meals the lunch time we went, but was the next day with live music, but we didn't go due to the weather......pouring rain. Has a free camp (no pwr) $20.00 with pwr. Worth a stop.”
“We camped out the back of the pub in our caravan on our way to Cape York & it was like finding a hidden gem. Beautiful big grassy area to pull up at (for free with patronage at the pub) cheap drinks (schooners of Great Northern $6.50) & an epic feed for a great price (our two steak dinners with toppers & a wine & a beer cost $65 which we thought was fantastic) The staff were very friendly as were the locals at the bar. Highly recommend & will definitely come back & stay at the pub again”
“Free camped in our Moterhome here, staff were lovely and so were the regulars. Played some darts and bought a few drinks. Great place to stay on the drive up to Cairns.”
